On September 24, 2019, President Fan Di’an met with Heisook Kim, President of Ewha Womans University of South Korea, and her group. The two sides held talks on cooperation and exchanges between the two universities. Fan Di''''''''an welcomed President Heisook Kim’s visit and briefly introduced our school''''''''s development history, discipline set-up, number of teachers and students, distribution of campus and situation about international exchanges. He pointed out that art education hasalways been a hot spot in China and over 60,000 students apply to CAFA every year.As reform has been constantly deepened in respect of teaching, which is representativelyvigorous inSchool of Design, he believed that the two universities could learn from each other in the field of design and art education and started a positive dialogue.Fan Di''''''''an believed that the art and art education of China and South Korea were confronted with the same question, namely, how to become a new force in global art and to maintain the characteristics of East Asian art in the era of globalization. South Korea had a high degree of internationalization in design education, and CAFA had exchanges with South Korean institutions in this regard. He hoped that in the future, the two universities would carried out activities such as didactical mutual visiting of professors, co-organizing seminars and small-scalework exchange exhibitions of teachers and students, to promote cooperation in a more diverse way.
Heisook Kim introduced the history of the establishment of the Ewha Womans University, the number of the students and the discipline set-up of the art academy, etc.She said that as early as 2009, there were professors at Ewha Women''''''''s University who led students to participate in the summer program in CAFA, and on that basis she hoped that the two universities would be able to carry out new and deeper cooperation. Had long been engaged in the study of art philosophy and aesthetics, President Heisook Kim expected that the two universities would conduct dialogue and discussion in the comparative research direction of Eastern and Western art concepts as well as of art theories. After the talks, the guests visited the ArtMuseum and School of Design accompanied by President Fan.Song Xiewei, Dean of School of Design, Wang Chuan, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, and Jin Rilong, Director of Personnel Office, accompanied the talks.
